Pre-Nuptial Agreements
A pre-nuptial agreement is a contract entered into before marriage
that spells out how assests will be distributed in the event of
divorce or death.
In Illinois, these contracts are enforceable if they are made
voluntarily, are fair and reasonable, are precise, in writing and
are signed by both parties.
The benefit of a pre-nuptial agreement is that it gives the
spouses more control over their property, instead of leaving these
decisions to a court.
Adoption
In order to adopt a child, the natural mother or father must
voluntarily give up their parental rights or be given the opportunity
to object. There are various legal consequences that result from an
adoption, including loss of child support, taken on responsibilities as
a legal guardian, etc. I can provide assistance to protect you and
your family during the adoption process.
Paternity
Establishing the paternity of a child may be necessary for
securing child support. The court can order the father to
submit a DNA test, if he is otherwise unwilling to do so.
